How Pitchverse works

Pitchverse is a football career game that runs in your browser. You create a talent and follow it from the academy to the final whistle: season by season, with transfers, injuries, trophies and an ending you cannot undo. Free, no sign-up, in ten languages.

Getting started in a minute

First you pick the game world - men's or women's football - then nation, position, strong foot, shirt number and kit. Next comes the talent draft, then the academy, and from there the career runs season by season. There is no save button: your progress lives in your browser, so you can stop any time and pick it up later.

The talent draft

Across three rounds you choose one of three cards that shape your player. A street baller gets dribbling and pace, a poacher gets finishing, the wall gets defending and physicality. Two cards are different: captain material gives fewer attributes but more potential, and the late bloomer starts genuinely weak - but carries the highest ceiling in the game.

Potential is the limit you move towards over the years. The scout line below the draft rates it from one to five stars. One star means potential below 80 - world class is rare from there, but it does happen. The stars say nothing about how good you are right now.

The academy

Three clubs from your home country want you, and the choice is a real one. The giant offers the best training, but you are one of many and will barely play. The mid-table side sits in between. The third option is always a second-division club: little prestige, but guaranteed minutes - and minutes are the single biggest driver of development when you are young.

A season from the inside

A season is played in two real halves:

1 · First half

Nineteen matchdays are played, then you see your record: matches, goals, assists, rating. Only now do you decide on winter training - so you know whether you are a fixture or stuck on the bench.

2 · Winter break

You pick an attribute and how hard you work on it. Train sensibly gives zero to one point with no risk. Go to the limit gives one to three points but can tip into overtraining, where you lose points instead. The risk climbs every season you push the same attribute again. Hammering one attribute year after year eventually costs you.

3 · Second half and report

The second half is played with your new attributes. At the end of the season you get your league position, cups, awards, market value, wage and balance.

The transfer window - and why your role is not just about rating

After the season, offers land on the table, each with a role: starter, rotation, prospect or bench. Which role you are offered does not depend on your rating alone, but on your reputation. It is built from:

From 33 onwards age pulls reputation back down - a big name does not carry you forever. In practice: finish third in the Ballon d'Or and you will get starter offers from top clubs even on a rating of 80. Only at the four or five absolute super-clubs does it stay rotation, because their squad really is stronger.

Negotiating

You do not simply accept an offer - you can push back: one role higher, a signing bonus, or more money. How likely the club is to agree depends on the gap between your reputation and the club's strength, and on last season's rating. After an 8.2 almost anything works. After a 6.3, almost nothing does.

A role guarantee you win is in writing and holds for as long as you stay at that club. You do not have to fight for it again every season.

Training camps, injuries, national team

In the summer break you choose the focus of pre-season: fitness, technique, tactics - or recovery, which cuts your injury risk for the coming season considerably.

Injuries simply happen; there is nothing to choose. They strike either half of the season at random and cost you matches. Serious ones also cost pace and physicality and nudge your potential down; afterwards the same injury can flare up again in a later season.

You get called up once your rating clears your country's threshold - which is far higher for strong footballing nations. Young players pass through the under-17, under-19 and under-21 sides first. If one of your parents holds another nationality, a second country may come calling; that decision is made once.

The Ballon d'Or

Every year there is a gala with three fictional rivals. Your points come from rating, form, goals, assists, clean sheets and trophies - a Champions League win and an international title weigh especially heavily. The finish is not just decoration: it feeds straight into your reputation in the next transfer window.

Money, market value and contracts

Market value grows exponentially with your rating and falls with age. Your wage also depends on how much you actually play - a squad player earns roughly a third of a starter at the same club. Contracts run three to four years for young players and one to two for older ones; if things go well, the club extends on its own.

Women's football is its own world

The selector at the top of the creation screen does not just swap names, it swaps an entire second world: ten real women's leagues with their clubs, the Women's Champions League, the Women's Europa Cup, the Ballon d'Or Feminin - and its own calendar with the World Cup, the EURO and the Olympic tournament.

Above all, its own economy. Market values and wages sit at realistic levels, and how much you earn depends on how professional the league is. Fall below a living wage and you automatically take a side job: it pays the rent, but it costs training time and therefore development. In return the market grows by about five percent every season - start in 2026 and you earn a multiple of that by 2046. ACL ruptures are modelled as their own, far more frequent injury type, matching the real-world data.

Normal or Extended?

Extended is the full experience: first half, winter break, training camps, every decision on its own. Normal simulates one, two or three seasons per click and skips the camps - good for quick runs or for trying a particular career again.

Challenge of the day, archive and badges

Every day a new challenge waits on the home screen - the same one for everyone worldwide. It fixes the game world, nation, position and sometimes more (a fixed draft, a second-tier start, a season limit) and sets a goal that is checked when the career ends. Completed challenges extend your streak; the archive lists every challenge and lets you play any of them in practice mode, which does not count towards streaks or badges. Badges are earned for streaks, challenge wins and special careers - 100 caps, say, or a career as an Immortal Legend.

Seven things that actually help

1. Minutes beat prestige - and we can prove it. We ran 2,000 careers per strategy through the game engine: always the strongest club, always the highest wage, or always a starting place. The result:

StrategyPeakTrophiesEarningsWorld class
Big club79.48.017 M€59 %
Big money80.17.321 M€70 %
Guaranteed minutes80.610.726 M€88 %

Guaranteed minutes wins on every measure - including the money. The boring answer is the right one.

2. Negotiate after a strong season. Last season's rating decides your odds. After a weak one, take the offer rather than gamble.

3. Rotate your training focus. Pushing the same attribute to the limit twice in a row raises the overtraining risk noticeably.

4. Be patient with a late bloomer. The first seasons look bad. The potential arrives later - if you have been playing until then.

5. Starting at a second-division club is not a weakness. Twenty-five matches in the second tier develop you more than six outings for the champions.

6. Recovery in summer is underrated. Especially past 30, and especially after a serious injury.

7. Watch your contract. If it runs out while you are over 33, offers get thin. Extend in time.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pitchverse cost anything?
No. No cost, no sign-up, no in-app purchases. The site is funded by ads.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, but only locally in your browser. It is on no server, tied to this device, and lost if you clear your browsing data.
Can I continue my career on my phone?
Not the same one - progress does not travel. On your phone you start a new career.
How long does a career take?
Around 20 to 25 minutes in Extended for a little over 20 seasons. Much less in Normal with three seasons per click.
Why am I getting no offers from the biggest clubs?
Because your reputation is not there yet. Trophies, awards and above all a Ballon d'Or finish open those doors - raw rating alone does not.
Why did I end up a "Club Hero" instead of a "National Hero"?
Because you never won a cap. Without international football that title is not available.
Are the clubs real?
Yes, all 606 clubs across 20 leagues match the 2026/27 season, second divisions included. Player names are invented.
Can I use my own name and photo?
Yes. At the end of a career you can add a name and a photo to the result card - the name then becomes the player's name. Both stay on your device.
